What We Do

During the past decade, ArtsChange has engaged artists, youth and a breadth of community in creating qualitative new artworks that speak directly to the crucial issues in at-risk communities in Richmond, San Pablo and the East Bay, including violence prevention and the food environment. Our core work areas are:

Nutrition, Food Access and the Physical Environment
Targeting at-risk communities, we design and implement innovative art-based strategies to increase understanding of food value, food access, and the physical environment, and promote increased consumption of fruits and vegetables.

Violence Prevention and community healing
creating arts-based projects mirroring the positive aspects of existing communities, reducing violence, and inspiring the choice of building life.

Community Identity and Empowerment
Building esteem and understanding through direct engagement in a variety of modes of storytelling, we reaffirm a shared sense of the community’s and of individual’s humanity, dignity and beauty.
