ArtsChange is proud to present the exhibitions Stitches in Time and Yes We Can! in celebration of Black History. This year’s exhibitions continue to inspire and present achievements by African-Americans as part of American history, both nationally and locally. Yes We Can! features the grassroots efforts of graphic designers to support our newly elected President, Barack Obama. The beautiful narrative quilts of artist Marion Coleman address African American health disparities, history and community identity. The two bodies of work seemed appropriate for this moment in time, celebrating both the historic election of the first African American president of the country, as well as acknowledging the continued struggle for health, well being and recognition here at home.
