Winter of Compassion
This exhibition was an outgrowth of a two-year interfaith dialogue at Richmond Health Center, exploring shared topics, including values of service and compassion, as well as more controversial questions, such as response to shared public space, American identity and the rights of religious minorities. The culminating exhibition included embroidered words of kindness and compassion created by dialogue participants and live trees, which will be planted in North Richmond's Verde Garden in February. A convivial community reception featuring music, a puppet show and healthy winter foods drew an audience of over 250 people.

Detail of installation with words of compassion hand embroidered on vintage handkerchiefs, napkins. Installation section 10 x 7 feet. Installation design by Ann Schnake and Alicia Garcia
